Balance + Breathe 9, Zoom Recording | OD
Explore standing balances & thoughtful shifts, honoring where we are.
Service Description
https://youtu.be/Zjf4pbBAiXw Class opens with a call to honor "where we are" (physically, mentally, energetically, etc); noting or naming three separate observances in the body, and on the breath. This practice of presence enables us to better acknowledge how we're feeling, without the need to too-deeply engage or change what we observe. It helps us expand our container, and sit with what might be uncomfortable or challenging for longer periods of time. We "wake up" the body with a few twists and flowing shapes to explore the spine, neck, and hips, then have the option to transition to standing without the use of our hands. We find a flowing sequence between different lunge-like shapes and humble warrior, to Virabhadrasana III (warrior III) or Dekasana (airplane), and Tada Kapotasana (standing pigeon balance). We bring it back down to the earth with a few hip stretches, and two seated balances (Urdhva Upavistha Konasana - seated straddle, and Navasana - boat). Class ends with a quote from one of my mentors, Anjali Rao.
